BANKSY | The Village Pet Shop and Charcoal Grill

"The people who truly deface our neighborhoods are the companies that scrawl their giant slogans across buildings and buses trying to make us feel inadequate unless we buy their stuff. They expect to be able to shout their message in your face for every available surface but you're never allowed to answer back. Well, they started this fight and the wall is the weapon of choice to hit them back," Banksy.
The British born artist seems to be taking his principles to another medium with his latest installation entitled "The Village Pet shop and Charcoal Grill." The installation is in a store front and not your typical gallery type setting. Banksy's reasoning for the look is deeply rooted in his beliefs in his graffiti and street art background. In his own words Banksy says, "Graffiti is not the lowest form of art. Despite having to creep out at night and lie to your mum it's actually the most honest artform available. There is no elitism or hype, it exhibits on some of the best walls a town has to offer, and nobody is put off by the price of admission" (Banksy: Wall and Piece). The store front allows the exhibit to be seen by the public ,"for free," at anytime of day or night staying true to his rooted beliefs.

The new exhibit includes a chicken coupe with a life like hen watching over her "soon to be" McDonald's chicken McNuggets chicks feeding on dipping sauce, a rabbit wearing pearls looking at itself in a vanity mirror, and a fishbowl with swimming fish sticks.
