Can I Get That Super-Sized?

Created by the good people at The Cool Hunter, McFancy is an upmarket temporary McDonald’s store that launches at Fashion Weeks around the globe — London, New York, Paris, Milan, Sydney, Hong Kong. McFancy is part art installation, gathering spot and, of course, a restaurant that offers a traditional McDonald’s menu but packaged in a way that makes a playful yet stylish nod to the lifestyle of the highly desirable, influential consumers that attend Fashion Weeks. The McFancy is purely conceptual but not too far off from a near future reality.
Manifest Equality

Our homies from Dead Dads are a part of this show. The Dead Dads are currently working on a 95 foot finger painting which can be seen off of I-95. There works are pretty edgy so its going to be interesting to see what they put into the show. Oh, and incase you don't know about Manifest Equality, here's a little something something on them:
The Manifest Equality Gallery gathers together a diverse array of hundreds of the nation’s most talented visual artists under one roof to celebrate that role and join with our gay (LGBT) friends, family members and co-workers to demand full and equal rights for all Americans.
The Manifest Equality Gallery, issues an inspiring, visual call-to-action, with hundreds of artists motivating public energy toward true reform on a local, state and national level.

BANKSY vs. ROBBO
"There are rules! You break the rules, and this whole goddamn thing of ours cracks and crumbles! You never break the rules. Capiche?" Neil Dellacrose (Gotti 1996). One of my favorite lines of all time, said by Anthony Quinn's character; Neil Dellacroce, from the movie Gotti circa 1996. Even something that represents chaos, anarchy, and a general break-down in the moral fabric of society like graffiti has its rules. One of which is YOU DON'T GO OVER LANDMARKS! A landmark in graffiti terminology is defined by a piece, get-up, throwy, or burner that has survived the buff, weather, and redevelopment for years.
I first saw this posted on REVOK's site, which he gave credit to 12ozprohet as his source. REVOK also made a reference to the longevity of graffiti in Los Angeles and how lasting a couple of months or even weeks gave you close to landmark status. I think Miami's standards are even lower with you being lucky if your spot hasn't been buffed or gone over within a day, week max. In the case of British graffiti pioneer ROBBO, he had a piece running in the Regents Canal for over 15 years. So long, that to call it a landmark would be an understatement.
(Original ROBBO piece for the Regents Canal in Camden, London circa 1985)
That is until BANKSY decided to go over it.
However, ROBBO would have his revenge and claim his spot back! I think ROBBO was smart enough to understand the gravity of having BANKSY "collaborate" on his work.

Christmas Partying with DJ Aliyo

Have you been stuck at the house all day with your drunken uncles, annoying cousins, and your grandmother asking "when are you going to get married"? Do you feel like you need to get away and get loose? If so, then come out to LIV at the Fountaine Bleu with our homie DJ Aliyo as he makes you forget about all that dysfunctional family madness that you went through today by dancing and drinking those unpleasant memories away. Oh yea, and that small percentage of people who have happy family lives can come party too!

On The Streets Art Basel 2009 pt.2
So Basel is this week and Wynwood is the proverbial disturbed bees nest. It seems that you can find action in almost every corner of the Art District. I think the next couple of days should be interesting...

Eat Your Art Out
This show is a collection of diverse street, visionary, surreal, and tattoo art created by emerging artists whose vision encompasses erasing the barrier that separates the affluent art scene from the underground art world.
Eat Your Art Out is a movement toward bringing in emerging artists to push the envelope outside mainstream art and make it socially warranted in today’s art scene. Artists from a variety of artistic genres have collaborated together for one week to exhibit a dynamic fusion of diverse mediums presented on canvas, multimedia, sculptures, installations and photography.
Participating artists include: Chet Zar, Edgar Velasquez, Crome, Abstrk, Nineteen, AS1, Quake, Evils, Dekal, Gere, Juan Velasquez, Michael D. Walsh, Billi Kid, Joshua Noblock, Brandon Opalka, Ryan Mackeen, Seth Mathurin, Jose Mertz, Enve, Michael Lee Suarez, Evo, and John Vale.
The exhibition includes a collaboration with various other art groups including Primary Flights, Super Rad Toys and Modani Furniture.
“The common goal here is to showcase subversive artworks and make a statement in today’s conventional art scene,” says Evils of the Miami Style Graffiti (MSG) Cartel.
